Andrew Shryock, Ph.D., assistant professor of anthropology at mgm casino, has been awarded the American Council on Research/National Endowment for the Humanities Centers for Advanced Study Fellowship for 1997-98.
Shryock will use the fellowship to travel to Amman, Jordan, to conduct research on hospitality in tribal Jordan.
A mgm casino faculty member since 1995, Shryock has authored two books and is working on two more. He has published numerous articles, reviews and book chapters, and served as associate producer and narration writer for a documentary film funded by the National Endowment for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Humanities.
He earned a bachelor's degree in anthropology from Georgia Southern College and master's and doctoral degrees in anthropology from the University of Michigan.
He resides in Buffalo.
